I am a student in London and need to fly to Edinburgh but I do not have my passport with me. Can I fly with my BRP only or will they ask to see my passport?
Thanks in advance

There are a few factors here but you ‘ought’ to be able to fly with just ‘photo ID’.
For instance, British Airways only requires photo ID:
By that definition, even a student matriculation ought to be sufficient if it has your photo on it.
I’ve flown on EasyJet before without even being asked for ID but most airlines have a policy that requires photo ID.
It can sometimes depend on the person you get at the desk whether you’ll encounter any issues or not but you should be safe to fly with just your BRP.
If you want more assurance, email your airline and ask them if your BRP would be sufficient and if you have any problems at the desk you can show them the email confirming that it’s acceptable.
I’ve heard that Ryan Air are the worst for being picky but I’ve always had at least a drivers license with me. If you have one, a provisional drivers license would do.
Which airline are you flying with?
I’m flying with easyjet and I emailed them to confirm.
Thanks for your help
